I needed to work with someone I could trust, in terms of editing and honouring their word. Susan’s offer of a sample edit gave me an excellent opportunity to establish if we were a match. Three things made that decision for me. One, her prompt and professional response. Two, her sensitivity to the material I had forwarded and the absence of authoritarianism. Three, when Susan agrees to a timeline, she honours it.
